Basically, a split pot in poker is when the total pot is divided into two or more halves. This is usually required when two or more players have the same five-card hand.
The concept of splitting the pot in poker is not limited to high stakes games. Typically, it is a matter of determining which hands have the best chance of winning and then allocating chips to those players.
Spread limit
Compared to no limit poker games, spread limit games are not as popular. This is probably due to the fact that they are typically run in locations where poker action is limited by law. For instance, players in Washington state can bet up to $300 in a betting round. This allows players to get a little hands on with the big bucks.
While most spread limit games are not as fancy as their higher-paying counterparts, there are still some interesting poker gizmos to be had.
Blinds
During a poker tournament, poker blinds are a great way to increase the size of the pot and encourage more players to play. They are also used to control the duration of the game. When all players agree on a particular structure for the blinds, the structure becomes the default for the duration of the game.
The structure defines the amount by which the blinds increase each round. Generally, the blind structure increases by 25% to 50% per round.
